Do delegates have a window / grace period to renew their UKATA certificate after the expiry date?

UKATA has recognised the need to provide firm guidance on when delegates can attend refresher training after sitting their initial training. Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, ACoP L143, Managing and Working with Asbestos, paragraph 266 states “Refresher training for licensable and

non-licensable work should be given every year”.


UKATA recognise that refresher training is not always possible or available within the expiry period of their previous training and on occasions delegates may miss the deadline for attending a refresher course.


All UKATA certification with an expiry date is valid for 12 months from the date of the training and the grace periods relate to the time after the expiry the delegate, subject to a suitable training needs analysis, will be allowed to undertake the refresher training in the subject matter.
